Leo J. Buehring, age 78, of Runge Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 in Moulton, Texas. He was born in Karnes County on July 21, 1931 to Louis Buehring, Sr. and Elsie Rosenbrock Buehring. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a lifetime member of the Runge VFW post # 9189, a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Runge, a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, a member of Hermann Sons Lodge No. 108 of Nordheim, and a member of the Runge Chamber of Commerce. Leo was the proud owner and operator of Buehring Dozer Service. He married Leona Wiede Koch on June 6, 1959 in Kenedy, TX. He is survived by his wife, Leona Buehring of Runge; son John E. Koch and wife Kathy of Moulton; daughters, Patricia Irvine-King and husband Ray of Seguin, TX, and Mary K Kresta and husband, Marvin of Shiner, TX; brothers Monroe, Henry, Albert, Normie, and Werner Buehring; sisters Elnora Erler, and Mary Ann Steudeman; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Gerald Koch; brothers, Harold, Hugo, Marvin, Louis Jr., Edgar, Hilbert, Eldor, and Elmor, sister Lula Mae Wolff, and one infant brother. Visitation will begin at 2 PM Thursday Sept. 3, 2009, with family receiving visitors from 5 PM until 8 PM at Rhodes Chapel in Runge, TX. The funeral service was held at 10 AM Friday Sept. 4, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Runge, TX. Interment followed in the Kenedy City Cemetery. Pastors Pamela Dorman and J.R. Westerfield officiated. Pallbearers were Robert Buehring Sr., Robert Buehring Jr., Jeremy Buehring, Amanda Orsak, H.R. Buehring, and David Buehring. Funeral services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
