Jose T. Leal Sr. age 74, of Runge TX, passed away in Beeville TX Nov. 1, 2009. He lived most of his life in the Runge area. He was born Dec. 2, 1934 in Westhoff, TX to Julio Leal and Angelita Tijerina Leal. Jose married Sara Rodriguez in Helena, TX on Aug. 28, 1954. He was a retired farmer and rancher. Jose was baptized in the Pentecostal faith, but lived his life non-denominationally. He lived to help his entire community. He is survived by his wife Sara Leal of Runge, two daughters Dalia L. Aguirre of Karnes City, and Esther L. Estrada and her husband Adrian of Helena, TX; sons Jose Leal Jr. of Beeville, TX, and Daniel R. Leal of Helena; eight grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; sister Lydia Mendoza; and brother David Leal. He is preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters. A prayer service was held Tuesday Nov. 3, 2009 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City with the funeral service being held 2:00 PM Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009 also at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Leal Family Cemetery in Helena, TX.
