Vernon Kuhnel, age 83, of Hobson, passed away October 28, 2009 in Kenedy. He was born to the late Sylvester Kuhnel and Rebecca Lewis Kuhnel on November 14, 1925 in Karnes City. Mr. Kuhnel was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a Graduate of Karnes City High School. He graduated from the University of Houston Military Avionics School from the Department of Technology. He worked in San Antonio in the Avionics Repair and Systems Engineering fields. He served in the United States Navy and was a WWII Veteran. Mr. Kuhnel is survived by his wife Laura Henke Kuhnel of Hobson, his sons Donald S. Kuhnel and his wife Pat of Hobson, Charles T. Kuhnel and his wife Donna of San Antonio, Clarence J. Kuhnel and his wife Debbie of Spring, and David Kuhnel and his wife Kathy of Johnstown, CO, his daughter Loris Ann Shuler and her husband Barry of San Marcus, his brother Leo Daniel Kuhnel and his wife Nora of Karnes City. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jenny, Kevan, Evie, Mark, Alice, Ben, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Kasey and his great grandchildren; Andrew, Ryan, Nathan, Carter, and Peanut. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clarence Kuhnel, and his sister Katherine Kean. A Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM, Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Hobson Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home, Inc.
