George F. Walleck

George F. Walleck, age 73, of Karnes City, passed away Dec. 14, 2009 in Victoria.  He was born to Henry Walleck and Agnes Gerloff Walleck on October 16, 1936 in Karnes City.  He married Peggy Retzloff on April 23, 1960 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City.  He retired from the Texas Highway Department after forty one years of employment, he farmed and ranched, was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and a member of the SPJST.   Mr. Walleck is survived by his wife Peggy Retzloff Walleck of Karnes City; son Gordon Walleck and wife Tina of Karnes City; daughter Rhonda Bloskas and husband Ronnie of Friendswood; two sisters Edna Kotzur of Willis, TX and Josephine Hierholzer of Fashing; brother Henry Walleck Jr. of Nell; grandchildren Dustin Walleck, Justin Garcia, Shannon Walleck, Paige Bloskas, and Tyler Bloskas; great grandchildren Braden Walleck, and Kay Leigh Garcia; step grandchildren Blake Elkins, Justin Elkins, Shelby Elkins, Daphne McDaniel, Kristin Bloskas, and Chelsea Comito; and step great grandchildren Dustin Sommer, Dakota Sommer, Logan Comito, and Kennedy Comito.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Anita Buehring, Willie Mae Buehring, and Helen Minnie, and his brothers Alton Sain and Sam Walleck.   Visitation was held Thursday evening December 17, 2009 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City with funeral services being held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 18, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City.  Interment followed in the Karnes City Cemetery.  Serving as Pallbearers were Eugene Walleck, Mark Sain, Shelby Buehring, Gary Hierholzer, David Minnie, Freddie Walleck, E.M. Kotzur, Jr., and Ronnie Buehring.  Honorary Pallbearers were the Texas State Highway Department Staff and Retirees.   Pastor David Collins III officiated.  Funeral services are entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City, TX.   The online guest book may be signed at rhodesfuneralhomeinc.com.
