Lady Badgers are 2-1 in district play

The Lady Badger Basketball team is 2-1 in district play (not counting Tuesday’s game against Poth) after falling to Nixon-Smiley Friday but beating Kenedy Jan. 12.
In the Nixon game, the girls lost 41-58, despite junior post Brittany Kinney’s 21 points. Freshman Aileen Lundquist chipped in another nine points.
In the Kenedy game, multiple players contributed to the 57-32 win. Senior post Vanessa Urrutia led all scorers with 12 points, while Kinney poured in 12, senior Evanly Gonzales had 10 and Lundquist scored eight.
The girls face their next district opponent, Navarro, Friday afternoon at the Karnes City gym beginning with junior varsity action.
