Adam De La Garza, Sr.

Adam De La Garza, Sr., age 79, of Coy City, passed away January 12, 2010 at his home in Coy City.  He was born to Serapio and Petra C. De La Garza on June 23, 1930 in Karnes City, Texas.  Mr. De La Garza was a retired mechanic for Chevron and Conoco Oil Co., and was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Fashing, Texas and St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, Texas.  He married Juanita Garza on June 16, 1956.  Mr. De La Garza is survived by his wife Juanita G. De La Garza of Coy City; daughters, Gracie Stewart and husband Roger of Three Rivers, Texas, and Nancy Strilka and husband Alexander of San Antonio, Texas; son, Adam De La Garza, Jr. of Coy City, Texas; and sisters, Emma Alaniz of Floresville, Texas, Minnie Friesenhahn of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Elena DeLeon of George West, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Serapio and Petra G. De La Garza; brothers, Pedro De La Garza and Israel De La Garza, and sister Eva Salas. A Rosary was recited at 7 pm, Friday, January 15, 2010 at Eckols Chapel in Kenedy.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church; Reverend Stanislaw Marcienik officiated.  Interment followed in the New Bremen Cemetery near Karnes City, Texas.  Serving as Pallbearers were Albert DeLeon, Bobby DeLeon, Ricky DeLeon, Rudy Diaz, Larry Diaz, and Pete Salas, Jr.
