Susan C. Mika Smith, age 84, of Karnes City, TX passed away Jan. 7, 2010 at the Bluebonnet Manor Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Panna Maria to Jesse J. Mika and Julia Lee Boldt Mika. Susan was a restaurant owner in Karnes City for many years. She first owned the Karnes Café and later the Green Diamond Restaurant for over 33 years. She is survived by her daughter Sandy S. Hipp of Karnes City; sisters Mary Denson of Stockdale and Julia Mika of Kuwait; granddaughter Jessye Hipp of Boerne; niece Patti Benton of Karnes City; nephew Joseph Zarebski of Alaska; numerous other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband a WW II Army pilot Charles Noble Smith; step mother Sylvia Mika; sister Rose Mika Zarebski; brothers Fabian Mika and Daniel Gilbert Mika; and granddaughter Shannon Benavides. A rosary was recited at 1:30 PM Wednesday Jan. 13, 2010 at the Panna Maria Cemetery followed by a Graveside Service at 2 PM both at the Panna Maria Cemetery. Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City. The on-line guest book may be signed @ rhodesfuneralhomeinc.com.
