Get out and vote!

Politics have never been my strong suit. Rarely do I choose a side because I feel I am not informed enough to take a strong stance.
I regularly pester my politically savvy friends with questions but still remain unsure.
Oftentimes I agree with a little of each side unless one candidate has really rubbed me wrong. From what others have told me, I do not really fit into a party.
I fall somewhere around a Liberal Republican. To me that sounds like an oxymoron, but then again, most politicians strike me as such. For that reason I also struggle with knowing which candidate to trust.
It seems they are going you say whatever they need to say in order to get your vote. They only show the side most likely to gain your support. I have been to the debates and though I have heard most of the questions, I am still not real clear on the answers.
Being somewhat liberal in Texas leads me to believe my vote does not count anyway. The electoral vote will almost always be different from mine so why should I take the time to vote?
Although I am not well versed in the logistics of it all, I do care a lot. I care about my country, as well as my county. I want to do my part to make changes and improvements. But it is hard to believe I can, after all I am just one person.
Despite all of my doubts, I will be going out to vote in this election. Not because I suddenly have a great understanding, but because at the county level my vote does count. There is no electoral college. My vote is truly my vote.
This particular election has really stirred up the people in Karnes County.
For that reason I encourage everyone to get out and vote. Yes, I am just one person and so are you, but being able to vote is a right that once was restricted to a select few.
I feel it is a right we now take for granted. Maybe it is because it is hard to believe that our vote matters.
We can rant and rave to each other and to ourselves about what we would like to see change, but the only way to get the ball rolling is to get out and make it happen. Stand up for what you believe in, exercise your rights and get out and vote. See you at the polls!
