Luciano "Chito" Chapa

Luciano "Chito" Chapa, 79, of Kenedy died August 22 in Beeville, Texas. He was born in Mineral, Texas, on Sept. 20, 1930.
Mr. Chapa was unable to work do to his disabilities and was a member of the First Mexican Baptist Church in Kenedy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Abundio Chapa and Celedina Zambrano Chapa; his sister Emilia Guerrero; and his brother Francisco Chapa.
He is survived by his sister, Maria Gonzalez of Shamrock, Texas; his brother, David Chapa of Kenedy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A prayer service was held on August 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Eckols Chapel. Internment was on August 24 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, with Rev. Basilio Martinez officiating.
Jose R. DeLaRosa

Jose R. DeLaRosa, 95, of Kenedy died August 22 in Karnes City, Texas.
He was born in Mexico on Jan. 6, 1915. Mr. DeLaRosa worked as a ranch laborer for many years and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church; he married his wife, Rita Salinas DeLaRosa.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rita DeLaRosa. He is survived by step-daughter Rosa (Enrique) Carrasco of Kenedy and grandchildren Johnny Carrasco of Kenedy and Chris Carrasco of Kenedy.
Family received friends at the Eckols Chapel Wednesday August 25 at 7 p.m.. Funeral services were held August 26 at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Leon Rubaj officiating. Internment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy.
Pallbearers were Johnny Carrasco, Chris Carrasco, Mario Rangel, Ray Farias, Enrique Carrasco, and Dennis Connally.
Evelyn Odell Looney

Evelyn Odell Looney, 86, of Karnes City died August 15. She was born on the Hoff Ranch in Pawnee, Texas, on Oct. 19, 1923, to James L. and Inez Hoff Looney, and is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her brother James D. (Jake) and his wife, Charlene Looney, of Karnes City; nieces Jayma and husband James Wood and Melanie and husband Tracy Witte of Karnes City; great nephews and nieces, Jim and wife Tracy Wood, Laurie and husband Anthony Alvarez, Tyler Witte and Tara Witte and great-great nephew Brock Wood.
She graduated from Pawnee High School and retired from First Nichols National Bank where she worked for over 60 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kenedy. Evelyn has resided in Karnes City the past few years, after spending most of her life in Kenedy.
Family received friends at the Eckols Funeral Home Tuesday, August 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 18 at 10 a.m. at the Eckols Chapel with Rev. John Wheat officiating. Interment was in the Karnes County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made in Evelyn's name to Nurses in Touch or the donor's choice. Pallbearers were David Hoff, Micheal Hoff, David Mendoza, Anthony Alvarez, Tracy Witte, Tyler Witte, James Wood, and Jim Wood.
Lucian Rutkowski

Lucian Rutkowski was called to his eternal home on August 21, 2010 by our Lord.
He was born on November 9, 1929 in Ecleto, Texas to John and Sophie Pokluda Rutkowski.
Lucian is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bernice Wiatrek Rutkowski; children Harold (Phyllis) Rutkowski of Sugarland, Robert (Betsy) Rutkowski of Jourdanton, Marvin (Michele) Rutkowski of Schertz, Jimmy (Vickie) Rutkowski of Karnes City, Laurie (Mark) Hall of San Antonio and Norma (Richard) Bennett of San Antonio; brothers Sylvester Rutkowski, Alvin Rutkowski, and Fred Rutkowski; sisters Gladys Pollok, Roselee Dworaczyk and Lillian Harmon; grandchildren Casey (Laura) Rutkowski, Chelsea (Chris) Kelley, Dustin and Lindsay Rutkowski, Katie and Shaun Rutkowski, Clayton and John Rutkowski, Trey and Kristina Sauceda, Luke and Jennifer Hall, Erin, Elizabeth, and Emily Bennett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophie Rutkowski, brothers Clarence Rutkowski, Florian Rutkowski, Sam Rutkowski, and John Rutkowski Jr and sister Theresa Rutkowski.
Visitation was the Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City, Texas beginning at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24 with the rosary following at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Interment at the Panna Maria cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Casey Rutkowski, Dustin Rutkowski, Luke Hall, Clayton Rutkowski, Shaun Rutkowski, Trey Sauceda and John Rutkowski.
Lucian served his country in the US Navy for four years and was employed by CP&L for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life revolved around his family. One of Lucian's greatest gifts was his ability to make others laugh. He enjoyed telling jokes, playing dominoes and traveling with his wife, Bernice.

Tekla Dugi Zaiontz

Tekla Dugi Zaiontz, 98, of Falls City passed away Monday, August 16 in Floresville. She was born Sept. 17, 1911, in St. Hedwig, Texas, to Stanley Dugi and Elizabeth Moy Dugi.
Tekla married Frank Zaiontz Jr. on Nov. 16, 1934. Tekla was a housewife, she helped with the family farm, and loved hunting.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, a member of the Rosary Circle, and the Altar Society. She is survived by her sons: Lee Zaiontz and his wife Shirley of Falls City, Fabian Zaiontz of San Antonio, Chester Zaiontz, and his wife Katherine of San Antonio, Thomas Zaiontz and his wife Elaine of Adkins, Texas, and David Zaiontz and his wife Evangeline of Koscuisko, Texas; a sister, Rose Champion of Freemont Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Tekla was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law Virginia Zaiontz; brothers Ignatz Dugi, Steve Dugi, Emil Dugi, and Anton Dugi; sisters Justine Pawlik and Theresa Lyssy. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 18 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City with a Funeral Mass having been celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 19 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Carl Zaiontz, Cody Zaiontz, Kenneth Zaiontz, Don Armstrong, Michael Zaiontz, and Daniel Zaiontz. Dawn J Polasek

Dawn J Polasek, 80, of Hobson, Texas, was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Eveleth, Minn., to Al and Wennie Beckman Bratulich, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother Al Bratulich and daughter in law Sandra E. Polasek.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas R. Polasek of Hobson, six children: Cindy Gowen of Tulsa, Okla., Mike and his wife Sandy I. Polasek of Nixon, Texas, Zac and his wife Jan Polasek of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kathy Polasek of Hobson, Fr. Jeff Polasek of Tahlequah, Okla., Angela and her husband Gary Cox of Sillisaw, Okla., 14 grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary was held Sunday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson with Fr. Gabriel Kamienski officiating. The Mass was recited Monday, August 23 at 10 a.m. at the church with Fr. Jeff Polasek officiating. Her grandsons served as pallbearers [150] Jason Polasek, Jacob Polasek, Joshua Polasek, Trevor Teague, James Gowen, and Daniel Gowen.
Herman Roberts

CMSgt. (Ret'd.) Herman Roberts, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio on August 19.
He was born in Gillett, Texas, on August 12, 1923, one of three children born to the late Hutt and Willie Roberts. Herman proudly served his country in both the Army and Air Force, retiring from the latter with 32 years of service in 1975. He worked in the private sector and civil service before retiring to his childhood home in Gillett in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; sister, Othella Applewhite; son, Gilbert; and step-son, Michael. He will forever be remembered by his loving sister, Billie Jean; beloved children: Mary, Herman Jr., Samuel, Robbie Jean, Roberta, Geraldine (Cookie), George, Willie Ann, Kelly, and Britt; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; along with other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Viewing and visitation was held Sunday, August 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the New Beginning Baptist Church, located south of Gillett on Hwy. 80, with the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 25 at 11 a.m. at Ft. Jason A. White-Adams

Jason A. White-Adams, son of James and Darlene Adams. Jason was born on June 10, 1984, in San Antonio and passed away on August 19 in Dallas.
Jason attended Karnes City High School and moved to Austin to complete his senior year and graduate from Travis B. Williams High School. After moving to Dallas, he pursued a degree in business and music production at El Centro Community College. Jason's passion was writing and producing music. He is survived by his parents, James and Darlene, brothers, Austin, Nicholas, and Allen Ray Luna, and grandmothers Dora F. Molina and Margaret Kollekowski.
Family Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 24 at the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gabriel Kamienski officiating. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 25, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Pogue officiating. Interment will be in the Falls City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Adams, Nicholas Adams, Jeff Angell, Rusty Angell, Allen Ray Luna, and Gerry Molina. Honorary pallbearers are Lonnie Saenz, Isaac Gonzales, Darrell Buckner, Charlie Alvear, Clifton Spencer.
