Thanks for the memories II
Thursday topped off these wonderful days of yesteryears.
We met for lunch with more than twenty some former teachers, support staff and administrators. Many former students and old friends dropped by to say hello.
After lunch we went to the Farmersville Building for a surprise ceremony. Folks, Farmersville and Valley View are where I spent the last nineteen years of my teaching career. When I retired thirty years ago, the Board of Education dedicated the playground and athletic field in my honor. Folks, water came to my eyes as they rededicated a beautiful new structure bearing my name.
I was overwhelmed! During the day, words were said that made it sound like I was ten feet tall and could walk on water. Those people, in their saner moments, know and I certainly know that I am well under six feet tall and if someone or something would toss me into rough water I would probably drown.
Be that as it may, I must confess that I did appreciate their kind words and the hard work and effort that many people put in to making this rededication so special.
Thanks for the memories!
