That do make it nice

Folks, this Sunday afternoon, July 15, as I sat out on our deck under the gazebo, I enjoyed seeing and listening to the rain as it hit and splattered on the gazebo roof. I was reminded of the old song, "That Do Make It Nice."

As I contemplated the many things and acts that bring this feeling into our lives I got up and began to write this column.

When I was a young man, I was dating a certain young lady. I arrived a bit late to pick her up. Her mother invited me in and informed me that her daughter would be ready in a few more minutes. Oh, "That do make it nice."

How about having a friend pay you back a sum of money you had loaned him several weeks ago and saying how much this had meant to him. "That do make it nice."

When a thoughtful motorist stops to assist you when you are having car trouble. "That do make it nice!"

As I pondered the many, many things and situations when this phrase is applicable, I realized it was when someone or something was done for me or when I did something to help someone else.

Most of all, however, is that God sent His Son to die for our sins.

"That Do Make It Nice!"
