Who knows
I am always interested in what people say and especially when they declare they know something or other for sure. Why is this? Perhaps many times when we say we know something for sure we really do not know but are expressing our opinion.
The president says that if we pull out of Iraq, things will get worse than they are now. He may be right. However, there are others in high places that say just the opposite. Perhaps they are right. Who knows what will happen? No one knows for sure what will happen. Never the less we keep on telling people we know this or that when it is just our personal opinion.
Many moons ago there was a radio program entitled ‘The Shadow’. It featured a character by the name of Lamont Cranston who had the power to cloud men’s minds so that they could not see him. He used this power to fight evil and support good. I, along with my friends, used to listen to this program nightly. One of the expressions at the beginning of each program was Lamont saying in an eerie sounding voice, "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"
Many years later when we were young adults and someone said, "Who knows?" One of the guys would say, "The Shadow do!"
We would all laugh and go on with the conversation.
So folks, who knows? The Shadow do!
