You are special
Folks the other morning during what I call my quiet time I remembered a little saying one of my primary teachers taught us.
Here it is.
Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best.
As a youngster I didn’t fully understand the saying but I did know that she wanted us to do our best.
While thinking about this I also thought about something that has been bothering me for some time.
Folks, I was fortunate to have been a teacher and educator during my professional career. Because of this I have former students and teachers who tell me what I mean to them. They talk of me as if I were ten feet tall and could walk on water.
Of course this is not true!
If I have touched or helped people it is not me but the One who is immeasurable and did walk on water.
Somehow and in some way, that, as an adult, I do not fully understand.
I was at the right place and at the right time to have helped someone in some way or another.
So I am not only embarrassed by such admiration, but often begin to think more highly of myself than I ought to think. In my saner moments I know I am just a vessel, as we all are, to be used for a higher purpose.
Be that as it may, I believe I am a special person with special skills. Folks, I hasten to add, so are you!
Everyone is special in their own way.
The gifts we are given are different and they can be used for good or evil! It is our choice. Sometimes we use them for good and then at other times for evil because we are human and make mistakes. However, we can ask forgiveness and move on.
So I finally am at peace with myself when I receive compliments. While I could not live with believing I was ten feet tall and could walk on water, I can live with the fact that I am a special person just as you are!
