The good old days

Folks when we reach an older age we tend to look back to what we call the good old days.

Soooo, return with me then to those thrilling days of yesteryear when out of the past come the sound of the hoof beats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again! For those of us who are just a smidgen older the episodes of Jack Armstrong, the all American boy thrilled us and added to the illusion that those were the good old days.

Be that as it may, each generation has experienced good times and troubled times. Now days, with the speed of communication, any event is almost instantly flashed upon our TV screens. It seems to me that the news media focuses upon the sensational bad news instead of the many good works and events that take place all over this old world. I also realize that they would not do this if we, the public, did not revel in it. Of course bad news must be reported but it should not overwhelm us!

There are wars going on somewhere in the world every day. It seems to me that I have read somewhere that there will be wars and rumors of war until the end!

Perhaps, just perhaps then we should spend more time and effort to emphasize and be a part of the good that is going on! Or is that too much to ask?
