Peace pipe
Folks, I remember reading many moons ago about what a very intelligent Indian chief said during the Indian wars.
"Everybody wants to smoke peace pipe, but nobody inhales."
That was his statement.
What great insight this man had. People said they wanted peace but they were not willing to turn those words into deeds.
So what else is new?
Many of us and some politicians talk about peace but the fighting goes on and people are killed, injured, displaced and desecrated. This happens because people from different cultures want others to believe and live as they do.
So we go on saying one thing and doing another.
Somewhere I believe it is written that we should let our yeas be yeas and our nays be nays! People may not know for sure where we stand by what we say, but they surely know by how we act!
I am reminded of some lyrics from an old spiritual song. Heaven, heaven, all the people who talk about it ain’t a going there heaven, heaven.
Those lyrics remind us that our actions speak so loud that people can not hear a word we are saying! This is not only true for us as individuals but for our organizations and our governments as well!
