Karnes County's newspaper

What if I had told them?

Folks, I got to thinking, the other day, about many of the wonders that have I have heard and seen in my lifetime.

What would my friends and neighbors have said if I had the knowledge and told them, back in the early nineteen thirties, that someday I would be able to hold a tiny object in the palm of my hand, punch in numbers and be able to talk to someone who had another little object in their possession even if they were in Europe, Africa, or any other place in the world?

Or that man would walk on the moon, that I would be able to type a message on a machine, then press a key that would send that message and before I could walk into the next room, it would be possible to receive an answer to my message. That I would be able to sit in my living room and look at some sort of a screen and watch events as they happened.

You know the answer as well as I. They would have said, "Brubaker, you are as crazy as a loon. Those things are impossible! You should be put away so you can not confuse and harm innocent people with such crazy ideas."

Now is your chance to disagree with me folks because I am now telling you that we ain’t seen nothing yet!

Many more incredible things will be invented and this will go on and on until the skies open and the most incredible event of them all will take place as the Lord returns!
