The three-eyed monster

Folks, I am constantly pursued by a three-eyed monster.

He appears in my dreams, but mostly it is when I am wide awake that I have the most trouble with him.

He only has one head but he has three eyes that cause me the biggest problem.

My monster’s eyes are; me-myself and I!

I oft times have the problem of thinking more highly of myself than I ought to think.

Inside I know I am a product consisting of the genes of my ancestors, the influence of my parents, teachers, friends, and in fact all that I have ever met and associated!

If it stopped there I would be in trouble!

Be that as it may, I am in deep, deep trouble if and when I do not give God the credit for whatever accomplishments I may have, with His help, achieved!

I have come to the conclusion, for me, that all sin is selfishness!

I take the credit instead of acknowledging that without God this old boy could not have accomplished much on his own.

So my constant prayer is, "God help me not to think of myself more highly than I ought to think."

Praise God from which all blessings flow.
