By Joe Baker
After spending more than ninety minutes in a closed session consultation with the school district’s attorney, the Kenedy school board reconvened and voted to impose an improvement plan for Superintendent Richard Irizarry during Monday night’s regular school board meeting.
Trustee Dwain Groff made the motion to approve the improvement plan which was seconded by Trustee Tony Mejia. The motion carried on a 6-1 vote with Trustee Leo Valerio casting the only vote in opposition.
In other business, the board voted unanimously to approve a bid of $463,507 for renovations to the school track.
School district officials said the project would begin in June and would likely wrap up within 70 days.
