The Kenedy ISD school board voted unanimously to hire Ann Dixon to fill the position of interim superintendent during a special meeting of the school board on August 21.

The school board will begin a search for a permanent replacement for Richard Irizarry who resigned as part of a recent contract buy-out negotiation.

Dixon told local media that she is not seeking the permanent position and is only interested in serving on a temporary basis.

Dixon, who lives in Sisterdale, previously served as interim superintendent for the Santa Gertrudis school district. Prior to that she was interim superintendent for Pettus ISD. She has also been interim superintendent for school districts in the Galveston and Dallas areas.
