Loya named new Kenedy postmaster

The U. S. Postal Service has named Three Rivers Postmaster Jimmy Loya as the new Kenedy postmaster, according to Hector Rodriguez, manager of post office operations in San Antonio.

"I am anxious to return and work in the Kenedy community and provide the best possible customer service," Loya said.

Loya, a Kenedy native, joined the postal service in 1979 in Kenedy and has worked in San Antonio and Karnes City as a letter carrier.

In 1996 he was promoted to the position of postmaster in Tuleta, in 1998 promoted to Nordheim, and in 2001 was promoted to Three Rivers.

Loya has served as officer-in-charge in Falls City, Nixon, Brackettville, Berclair, Falfurrias, Poteet, Poth and Kenedy.

He is married to Sandra Loya and they have three children and five grandchildren. Loya currently is involved in the local community as city councilman and captain of the Karnes City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
