Runge woman killed in single vehicle rollover accident
Pickup truck rolls, lands in creek bottom near Cuero
By Joe Baker
A Runge woman was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident Sunday morning on State Highway 72 at a location about 1.6 miles west of Cuero.
DPS Spokesperson Tela Mange said that no one else was injured in the accident which took the life of Yolanda Salinas Olveda, 48, of Runge.
Olveda, who worked as a prison guard, was wearing her seatbelt while driving a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup at about 6:15 a.m.
The truck was traveling westbound and appeared to have taken evasive action to the left (into the opposite lane) and then back to the right to avoid an object in the roadway. The truck went into a side skid and hit a guardrail. The truck continued along the guardrail for about 100 feet, then struck a culvert and went airborne. The truck landed upside down in the creek bottom.
Olveda was pronounced dead at the scene by a DeWitt County justice of the peace.
