Vandals strike in Falls City
By Jason Clay Jansky
Vandals came through Falls City August 20 causing destruction to local school, state, and private property.
Several trash cans at homes in town were run over, a tarp at the high school reading "Beaver Pride" was torn, traffic control lights near the school on State Highway 791 were badly damaged, and a large dumpster at the school was turned over.
Police don’t have many leads as no usable tire tracks or footprints were found at any of the scenes, and they are encouraging any residents who might have spotted suspicious activity that evening to call the Sheriff’s department.
"That’s prank stuff. That’s kids doing that, probably," Karnes County Sheriff Department Chief Deputy A.C. Alonzo said. "It’s serious, because those (traffic lights) are expensive. We’re trying to figure it out."
Falls City Mayor Vi Malone said the town has had enough and she’s working to make sure the culprits are caught.
"We have had enough over the past few months (and) I think it is time to let whoever is doing this (know) that the Sheriff’s office is involved," she said.
Law-enforcement officials are encouraging anyone with information about these recent acts of vandalism to contact the sheriff’s office at 780-3931.
