Kenedy school district awarded $204,000 TEA grant aimed at improving academic performance
By Jason Clay Jansky
Kenedy ISD has received another grant aimed at improving academic performance in the district.
The $204,000 Texas Education Agency grant is aimed at restructuring the academic program in order to improve academic achievement.
"This is a redesign/restructure grant that is offered to high schools that have been struggling academically for whatever reason," Kenedy ISD Superintendent Richard Irizarry said. "The teachers have been working on a design. We’re looking at new software to analyze student data, we’re looking at instructional materials for the campus, we’re looking at staff developments, reorganizing the instructional day, (and) all sorts of things."
The district also is looking to hire an individual that would advise teachers and help them meet the instructional needs of students.
"I think it’s going to be a great thing. Coupled with the advanced placement initiative we have, it’ll really help the campus," Irizarry said.
