Lubbock man injured in rollover on Hwy 181
By Jason Clay Jansky
A Lubbock man was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital February 10 after his vehicle rolled over twice on U.S. Highway 181.
Joesef Sidney King, 31, was heading south on the highway just past the John Connally Unit prison at about 6:30 p.m. when he reached down to get his map from the floorboard. A police report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety said he then lost control of his 1997 Honda CRV as it went off the southbound shoulder.
King attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the road, but overcorrected, the report said. The result sent his car into a 180-degree skid which turned into a double rollover. The vehicle landed in the highway’s northbound shoulder.
An ambulance arrived about 10 minutes after the crash and took King to the Karnes County Airport where he was transported to University Hospital in San Antonio via AirLife helicopter.
King was the vehicle’s only occupant and no one else was hurt during the crash.
