Kenedy woman arrested on drug charges
By Jason Clay Jansky
A Kenedy woman was arrested after police searched her home and found narcotics Nov. 1, according to police.
Kenedy police officers entered 35-year-old Christie Valdez’s home on 314 Young Street in the Foster Apartments after obtaining a search warrant from County Judge Alger Kendall, Jr.
While inside, they found several instruments used to package and process narcotics along with residue from those substances, Kenedy Police Sergeant Jeremy Stevens said.
Valdez was away from home at the time. She was later located and arrested on charges of possession and manufacture of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The amount listed on the charge is less than one gram, making the alleged crime a state jail felony.
Stevens said the department also referred the case to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services after they found one child around 9 or 10 years of age at home alone when they arrived.
If convicted of the drug charges, Valdez would receive no less than 180 days and as much as two years in state jail and a possible fine as large as $10,000.
