Falls City man injured in accident

By Jason Clay Jansky

A car was totaled and a man was cited for failing to yield to the right of way during a Friday afternoon car crash just outside Falls City.

Falls City resident Fabian Sturm, 58, was heading northeast on F.M. 791 toward Falls City at about 12:45 p.m. that day when he attempted to turn his two-door 2002 Mitsubishi off 791 and onto F.M. 887, according to a DPS accident report.

At the same time, 61-year-old St. Hedwig resident Milton Lowak was heading southwest on F.M. 791. His two-door Ford pickup truck collided with the front end of Sturm’s vehicle just as Sturm began his left-hand turn, the report indicated.

Sturm was not wearing his seatbelt and suffered a minor head injury as a result of the impact, according to DPS Trooper Steven Bailey.

Bailey also said Sturm’s view may have partially been impaired by another vehicle directly in front of him. Sturm was issued a citation for failing to yield to the right of way after he received medical treatment.

"Failure to yield right of way is what caused the accident," Bailey said.

Lowak was not injured during the crash.
