Kenedy resident becomes state trooper

Henry John Schultz IV graduated on September 15 from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s 131st Training Academy.

The 27-week school is the longest continuous training academy offered by any law-enforcement agency in Texas, and one of the longest in the nation. The cadets entered the academy in January and completed 1,214 hours of instruction — more than twice the training required by law.

Trooper Schultz, who is the son of Johnny and Saundra Schultz of Kenedy, will be assigned to the Texas Highway Patrol in Port Lavaca.
