Tractor City Country Store

Same owners - new look - new name

By Jason Clay Jansky

The old idea of a country store is returning to Kenedy thanks to a massive remodeling job by John Deere dealers in Kenedy.

Formerly South Texas Implement Co., the now remodeled business has changed its name to Tractor City Country Store and the name isn’t all that’s gotten a new face.

The entire exterior and interior of the building have been remodeled. New signs and lights and paint have been added to enhance the building’s eye appeal, but the biggest change is on the inside.

General Manager Johnny Wright has been busy overseeing the remodeling since March 8.

Wright said they wanted to incorporate a country store — an extended line of products for the outdoor enthusiast.

"We’re going to a full line of farm and ranch supplies," he said.

Feed, lawn and garden supplies, pet food and supplies, jewelry, candles, gifts, and clothing are now available inside the store. It’s not just tractors any more.

Owned by the Setliff family out of Calallen, the store will remain under the same management and ownership despite all the other big changes.

"It’s owned by the same family, we’re just trying to enhance the shopping experience here," Wright said.

The business celebrated its ribbon-cutting September 21.
