Clifton Jansky coming to Karnes City

By Cathy Passmore

Popular country singer Clifton Jansky is coming to Karnes City!

Organizers are encouraging residents to mark their calendars for Saturday, April 19.

Well-known on the South Texas dance hall circuit, the San Antonio native went on to regional success in the country music business. He was the first country artist to record "Amarillo by Morning."

Clifton Jansky’s life took a remarkable turn in 1983 when he gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, and he is now an award-winning Christian country artist. He will perform at the Karnes City Park pavilion for a free concert on April 19. People are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and hear him tell the story of his journey "From Amarillo by Morning to Amazing Grace". The concert will begin at 6 p.m.

There will be several fun activities throughout the afternoon as well. The day will start at 1 p.m. with fun and games for all ages. Small children will enjoy a moonwalk, and there will be snow-cones to keep everyone cool. There also will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with age brackets of 11 to15 years old and 16 to adult (call 780-3147 to register your team). The band "Sev7sky" will be playing throughout the afternoon. Free hamburgers will be served to the first 250 in line beginning at 5 p.m. Organizers are encouraging everyone to come and join in the fun and food on Saturday, April 19.

The events of April 19, 2008 in the Karnes City Park are sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Karnes City. Call 780-3147 for more information.
