Kenedy 4B board discusses land development deal
By Cathy Passmore
Larry Kiesling, chairman of the board of the Kenedy 4B Corporation met with other members on April 11 at noon at the Dairy Queen in Kenedy.
He brought the members up to date on the recent joint meeting with the Kenedy City Council and the Karnes County Economic Development Corporation. He explained that most of that meeting dealt with the development of the property purchased behind the Wal-Mart Supercenter located off of U.S. Highway 181. He said the various representatives considered and discussed how best to divide the cost of the needed infrastructure.
Kiesling explained that a committee had been appointed by Kenedy Mayor Randy Garza with members from the Kenedy City Council, the Karnes County Economic Development Corporation, and the Kenedy 4B Corporation to meet and work with the land developer.
"One matter to act on at this meeting is to consider the second amendment of the earnest money contract effective the 1st of April, 2008, between the FPB Land Company and the 4B Corporation," Kiesling stated.
The vote that followed approved an extension for the buyer until April 1, 2009 in order to inspect and to investigate all matters relative to the property.
The members present took no action on the rotation of City of Kenedy employees who work at the city park, leaving that in the hands of the city manager to decide.
They did, however, vote to present a potential candidate to fill a vacant position on the 4B Board. At this time, they would like for Joe Ed Ponish to be considered by the city council.
Next, Kiesling gave a brief report on the audit report recently prepared that covered 1998-2007. He said there were copies of the report available for all of the board members.
"The 4B Corporation is in good condition and that they are keeping up with the finances and the minutes as needed," Kiesling said.
In closing, all were reminded of the upcoming Bluebonnet Days celebration.
