I was fortunate to have had a great mother! She taught me many things. She loved me, encouraged me and taught me many things.

Encouraged me by patting me on the back and on occasions just a bit lower than that!

I can almost hear many of you saying, you think you had a great mother; let me tell you about my mother. If you are one of these let me congratulate you as some have not been so fortunate.

Be that as it may the mother I want to tell you about today is the mother of my children! She was and is a great mother! She also patted Craig and Connie on the back and a bit lower at times.

However she is also known as Mom or Mum Brubaker by many former Rotary exchange students around the world. She will be receiving cards, e-mails and phone calls from these former students who lived in our home some twenty years ago.

I know I speak for her when I say she will say that she received more from them than she gave. That folks is open for debate.

So on this Mother’s Day I want to say to the love of my life, "Congratulations, my dear, and thank you for being the great mom or mum that you are!"
